NEW YORK, NY — The City College of New York women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 69–61 victory over Medgar Evers College on Friday afternoon at Nat Holman Gymnasium, improving to 4–10 overall and 2–4 in CUNYAC play.
CCNY set the tone early and never trailed, using a balanced offensive effort and strong work on the glass to hold off a late push by the Cougars. After a tight first quarter, the Beavers found their rhythm in the second, outscoring Medgar Evers 20–10 to take a 33–21 advantage into halftime.
The Cougars showed life in the third quarter, shooting over 60 percent from the field and trimming the deficit, but CCNY responded with composure. The Beavers matched Medgar Evers basket for basket down the stretch and sealed the win at the free-throw line, scoring 10 points from the stripe in the fourth quarter.

Ashley Colon led CCNY with a team-high 18 points, knocking down three three-pointers and adding six rebounds. Freshman
Blessings Joseph-Pascall followed with 17 points, five assists, and four steals, while sophomore
Ashley Subervi chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds to anchor the interior. Sophomore
Yazmin Loma Romero provided a strong spark off the bench, scoring nine points on an efficient 3-of-5 shooting.
CCNY dominated the rebounding battle, 55–42, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, holding a 21–13 edge in second-chance points. The Beavers also forced 23 turnovers, converting them into 22 points.
Medgar Evers was led by Alexis Davis, who poured in a game-high 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a standout performance. Aaliyah Lyons added 16 points, but the Cougars struggled at the free-throw line, shooting just 40.7 percent, which proved costly.
CCNY will look to build on the momentum as conference play continues, hosting John Jay College on Wednesday, January 21, at 5:00 p.m.
