Balanced Attack Lifts CCNY Past York in 88–76 CUNYAC Home Win

New York, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team turned in one of its most complete performances of the season on Friday night, pulling away in the second half for an 88–76 victory over York College in CUNYAC action at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

CCNY (6-14, 5-4 CUNYAC) set the tone early, using efficient shooting and balanced scoring to build a 45–32 advantage at the break. The Beavers shot 48.4 percent from the field in the first half and knocked down six three-pointers, creating separation against a York team that struggled to find its rhythm early.

York (6-10, 6-3 CUNYAC) made a push after halftime, outscoring CCNY 44–43 in the second half, but the Beavers consistently answered. CCNY extended its lead to as many as 19 points midway through the second half and maintained control down the stretch with timely baskets and solid defense.

Senior Camryn Reyes led CCNY with 19 points and nine rebounds, anchoring the effort on both ends of the floor. Junior Abdias Carcamo followed with 18 points and a game-high eight assists, shooting an efficient 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Senior Michael Bowman added 16 points, while freshman Fabian Cruz chipped in 10 off the bench to give CCNY four players in double figures.

CCNY dominated the glass, outrebounding York 56–44, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities with 24 second-chance points. The Beavers also dished out 26 assists on 30 made field goals, highlighting their ball movement throughout the night.

York was paced by Jonte Wallace's 22 points and Christopher Smith's 14, with the Cardinals getting a strong boost from their bench, which accounted for 31 points. Despite shooting better in the second half, York was unable to overcome CCNY's early cushion and rebounding edge.

The win marks an important conference victory for CCNY as they continue conference play on Tuesday, February 3, on the road against Lehman College at 7:00 p.m.
