New York, NY — The City College of New York men's basketball team fell to Lehman College, 69–50, in CUNYAC action Friday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. CCNY drops to 1–11 overall and 1–2 in CUNYAC play.
After a slow start that saw the Beavers trail 33–20 at the break, CCNY responded with a much stronger second half, scoring 30 points and competing possession by possession. The Beavers went 9-of-10 from the free-throw line in the final 20 minutes and limited Lehman's transition opportunities as they worked to close the gap.
Senior
Justin Morety led CCNY with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, while sophomore
Olabanjo Aborisade provided a lift off the bench with 11 points. Junior
Abdias Carcamo added eight points, and CCNY received solid contributions across the lineup as it continued to search for offensive consistency.
Defensively, the Beavers forced 22 Lehman turnovers and turned them into 13 points, creating chances to swing momentum. CCNY also cut down on mistakes in the second half, committing just six turnovers after the break.
Lehman was paced by Amar Ndiaye, who finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, using second-chance opportunities to keep the Lightning in front. Despite CCNY's improved play, Lehman's rebounding edge proved decisive over the course of the game.
The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, January 14, on the road against Baruch College.
