New York, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team dropped a 68–41 decision to John Jay College on Saturday afternoon at The Doghouse in CUNYAC action.
CCNY faced an early deficit as John Jay opened the game with consistent offense and defensive pressure, taking a 35–16 lead into halftime. The Beavers showed improved pace in the second half, scoring 25 points after the break, but were unable to overcome shooting challenges, finishing the game at 23.9 percent from the field.
Freshman
Samuel Olubakin led CCNY with 13 points off the bench on 6-of-9 shooting. Sophomore
Chris Popotte contributed nine points and five rebounds, while the Beavers collectively worked the boards, totaling 47 rebounds and scoring 21 bench points.
CCNY now stands at 6–18 overall and 5–8 in CUNYAC play and will look ahead to its next conference matchup.
The Beavers close out the regular season on Tuesday, February 17, at home against Baruch College at 7:00 p.m.
