New York, NY - The CCNY women's basketball team fell to John Jay, 81–36, in CUNYAC action on Friday afternoon at the Doghouse. With the loss, CCNY drops to 6–16 overall and 4–9 in the CUNYAC.
John Jay set the tone early, using strong rebounding and interior scoring to build a first-quarter advantage. Although CCNY stayed within striking distance early, offensive struggles began to mount as the game progressed. The Bloodhounds' decisive third quarter—outscoring CCNY 30–8—created separation that proved insurmountable.
CCNY shot 17.6% from the field (12-of-68) and was held to just 10 points in the paint. Despite the shooting difficulties, Freshman
Blessings Joseph-Pascall led the Beavers with 12 points and nine rebounds, while junior
Ashley Colon added eight points. CCNY battled on the glass, pulling down 39 rebounds, but turnovers and missed opportunities limited any sustained momentum.
John Jay dominated inside, finishing with 56 points in the paint and a 69–39 rebounding edge. Natalie Simonds paced all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while Michaela Lattimore recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. The Bloodhounds also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 25 points off offensive rebounds.
CCNY will look to regroup as they continue CUNYAC play, aiming to close the season strong and build momentum heading into the postseason stretch.
