New York, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team battled throughout but came up short in a 61–54 loss to Brooklyn College on Friday night at Nat Holman Gymnasium.
The game was tight from the opening tip, with Brooklyn holding a narrow 27–24 lead at halftime. CCNY stayed within striking distance all night, trading leads and ties in a physical, defensive contest that featured four lead changes and three ties.

Chris Popotte led all scorers with a standout performance, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while adding six rebounds and three assists. Senior
Michael Bowman chipped in 13 points, knocking down three three-pointers, and senior
Camryn Reyes recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, anchoring the Beavers on the glass.
CCNY shot 41.2% from the field and held an edge in points in the paint (28–18), but Brooklyn's efficiency from beyond the arc proved decisive. The Bulldogs connected on 9-of-23 three-pointers and scored 19 points off turnovers, capitalizing on key possessions down the stretch.
Brooklyn opened the second half with improved shooting, going 5-of-10 from three in the final 20 minutes, while CCNY struggled to convert late opportunities. Despite multiple defensive stops and clutch baskets from Popotte and Bowman, the Beavers were unable to close the gap in the final minutes.
CCNY falls to 6–16 overall and 5–6 in CUNYAC play, while Brooklyn improves to 9–12 overall and 7–4 in conference action.
