Bard Sweeps Doubleheader from CCNY on Sunday

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY - The City College of New York baseball team dropped both games of a Sunday doubleheader against Bard College at Honey Field, falling 3-0 in the opener before a 15-7 defeat in game two.

In the first game, Bard plated the game's first run in the opening inning when Jack Burcell delivered an RBI single to right field. The Raptors added two more runs in the third inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Angus Lunt-Woodward and an RBI single by Elias Grosfoguel, to secure the 3-0 victory.

CCNY was limited to three hits in the opener, with Demetri Zirogiannis recording a double and a stolen base, while Gerard Molinaro and Erik Rank each added a hit. Despite the loss, Noel Vasquez turned in a strong performance on the mound, tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts while allowing three runs over six innings.

The Beavers responded quickly in game two, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. James Anderson drove in a run with a single to center field before Rich Cirigliano delivered a two-run double to right field.

CCNY extended the lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning, but Bard responded with six runs in the bottom half of the inning to take control of the game. The Raptors continued the momentum in the fifth inning, erupting for eight runs to build a 15-5 advantage.

The Beavers added late runs in the sixth and seventh innings, including an RBI double from Maxwell Brusca, but were unable to overcome Bard's offensive surge.

John Spallin and Zirogiannis each recorded two hits for CCNY in the second game, while Cirigliano drove in two runs. Erik Rank was charged with the loss in game two, while Kane Morgan earned the win in relief for Bard.

Next, the Beavers host the University of Mount Saint Vincent in the 2026 Home Opener on Wednesday, March 11, at Diamond Nation Park in Flemington, NJ  at 4:00pm.
