NEW YORK, N.Y. — The City College of New York men's soccer team opened the 2026 season in winning fashion Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pratt Institute at Randall's Island Field.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Beavers broke through in the 65th minute when junior
Konstantinos Psomaras found the back of the net at 64:24, giving CCNY the lead. Junior
Yanis Hamdi Pacha provided the assist on the game-winning goal.
The Beavers controlled much of the second half and created several opportunities to extend their advantage, finishing the night with a 14-6 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.

Axel Vazquez anchored the defensive effort, making three saves to record the shutout in his first appearance of the season. The Beavers' defense held Pratt scoreless despite five corner-kick opportunities.
Psomaras led CCNY offensively with five shots, including three on goal, while junior
Fausto Rodriguez added three shots. Sophomore
Milton Pingarron recorded two shots, both on target.
The Beavers' defense remained organized throughout the match, limiting Pratt to just two shots in the second half and preserving the one-goal advantage through the final whistle.
The victory gives CCNY a 1-0-0 record to begin the 2026 campaign.
