NEW YORK, N.Y. — The City College of New York men's soccer team battled Centenary University (NJ) to a 1-1 draw Thursday evening, as the Beavers moved to 1-0-1 on the 2026 season.
CCNY controlled much of the offensive action, finishing the match with 11 shots, including five on target, while Centenary recorded seven shots and four shots on goal.
The Beavers broke through on the scoreboard behind sophomore Dennis Lopez, who scored his first goal of the season to give CCNY the lead. Lopez finished the night with three shots, including two on target.
Centenary responded with a goal from Brandon Morales, with Shane Gambarony and Aedan Dorwart credited with assists, leveling the match at 1-1.
Neither team was able to find the decisive goal in the remainder of regulation, sending the contest to a draw.
In goal, Axel Vazquez played all 90 minutes for CCNY and made three saves. Centenary goalkeeper Gavin Veres recorded four saves.
Junior Konstantinos Psomaras provided an additional offensive threat for the Beavers, registering three shots, while freshman Alexis Penaranda added a shot on target. Freshman Matija Kovac also recorded two shots off the bench.
The Beavers will look to build on their strong start when they return to action on Saturday, September 5, on the road against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn.
