NEW YORK, N.Y. — The City College of New York women's soccer team opened its 2026 home schedule in winning fashion Monday night, defeating Pratt Institute, 1-0, at Randall's Island Field 10.
The Beavers controlled much of the offensive action throughout the contest, outshooting the Cannoneers 21-14 and putting 12 shots on target. After a scoreless opening half, CCNY continued to apply pressure before finally breaking through late in the match.
With just under eight minutes remaining, Zherlyn Guaillazaca delivered the decisive goal at 82:12, scoring her first goal of the season. Sara Rodriguez provided the assist on the game-winning tally.
CCNY's attack was led by Karen Pineda, who registered a team-high eight shots, including five on goal. Josoniah Terry added four shots, while Larisa Hodzic recorded two shots, both on target. Rodriguez also finished with two shots and an assist.
Defensively, the Beavers held Pratt scoreless despite seven shots on target. Elsa Gashi started in goal and made four saves over the opening 45 minutes, while Jade Salas played the second half and stopped three shots to help preserve the shutout.
The victory marked CCNY's second win of the season and its first home victory of 2026. The Beavers improve to 2-4-0, while Pratt falls to 1-4-1.
CCNY finished the night with three corner kicks and committed just five fouls compared to nine by Pratt. Pratt goalkeeper Savannah DePaz made 11 saves in the losing effort.
The Beavers will look to carry the momentum from their home-opening victory into their next contest.
