Derek Faucher has been an assistant baseball coach at the City College of New York since 2010-11. In June of 2013, Faucher took over as the Athletics Facilities Coordinator, overseeing and scheduling rentals of the Nat Holman Gymnasium, swimming pool and other facilities.
Faucher, a former City College of New York student-athlete, earned City University of New York Athletic Conference postseason honors in 2009 after leading the Beavers in batting average and on-base percentage. His senior season saw the catcher/outfielder lead the club in home runs and walks as the captain.
Faucher began his collegiate career at Penn State – Beaver Campus, earning academic all-conference honors before transferring to Jamestown Community College.
While at Jamestown, he started at catcher and helped the team to a school record in wins and its first regional appearance in three seasons.
This past summer, Faucher was the head coach of the Stockholm Baseball Senior Team and Softball Club in the Elite Series in Sweden. He guided the team to a 16-8 record in the regular season and a 17-10 record overall, while the team had eight players who were 19 years old or younger.
Other players on the team include Swedish National Team members Magnus Pilegard, Bjorn and Peter Johansson and Joakim and Jakob Claesson. The 2012 team finished first in RBI, on-base percentage, hits and runs while also swiping a league-high 91 stolen bases on 108 attempts. The pitching proved to be strong as well, posting the league’s second lowest earned run average while the defense lead in fielding percentage.
