Grant Neary is entering his third season as a part of the CCNY baseball coaching staff and his first season as the Head Baseball Coach. An Assistant Athletic Director during his entire tenure on campus, he was the Associate Head Baseball Coach for two seasons before being promoted to the Head Coaching post in June 2010. Grant comes to CCNY after a stint as the Chief Operating Officer of Power Hitter Sports Performance LLC, as well as a Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Coordinator in the Orange School District, from 2007 to 2009. Prior to the opening of his business, he was an Assistant Baseball Coach at Watchung Hills Regional High School from 2005 to 2007. Grant helped guide the 2005 squad to a State Championship and led the Watchung Hills American Legion program to its first playoff birth in over ten years in the summer of 2006. He also served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Assistant Football Coach, leading the 2006 football team to an undefeated regular season as Defensive Coordinator, during his stint at the school.

 

Neary began his coaching career as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology from 2001-2003. 1st Team All-State Baseball Player at Bridgewater-Raritan High School before becoming a nationally ranked athlete in the sport of powerlifting in his college years and beyond. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Grant has won both a National and a World Powerlifting Championship and holds multiple New Jersey State Records in the Deadlift. Grant is a graduate of Kean University with a degree in Physical Education/Adult Fitness and has completed additional course work towards a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from New Jersey City University. He is also a professional member of both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
