Mark Ribeiro II

Mark Ribeiro II enters his second season as head coach of the men's volleyball team and completed his first season as head coach of the women's volleyball team in 2012.

The women's squad finished 6-2 in conference play and advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 City University of New York Athletic Conference Championships.

Under Ribeiro, two players earned CUNYAC honors as Dalliana Toussaint was named the conference player of the year and Sportsmanship of the Year while Aimee Grossman earned Rookie of the Year honors.

On the men's side, Ribeiro went 9-23 in his first season (2012).

Ribeiro – a graduate of Springfield College in Massachusetts – began his collegiate playing career at the University of Hawaii of Manoa. After redshirting for the 2004-05 season, he played two years for the University, earning the Most Improved Player award for the 2005-06 campaign. Prior to the 2006-07 season, he was tabbed as one of the team’s captains and in both March and April of that season, he earned Player of the Month awards.

After a solid playing career at the University of Hawaii of Manoa, he transferred to Springfield College in Massachusetts and earned countless accolades. In two consecutive seasons (2007-08 and 2008-09), he was named the ACVA-NCAA Most Valuable Player. In 2007-08, he helped Springfield College win an AVCA-NCAA National Championship, as he was named tournament MVP. During the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, he was named to the all-academic team while also earning All-American status. Then, in 2010 and 2011, he served as a player/coach/consultant on a team in a league in Switzerland and presently he plays on the USA National Volleyball squad.

Ribeiro served as an assistant coach for one year at Springfield College. Following his first season, he served as the head coach of the T-Street Volleyball Club in Irvine, California while also being the head coach for the Riptides Volleyball Club in Anaheim, California.

Outside of volleyball, Ribeiro serves as a Professional Personal Trainer at New York Sports Club locations in Manhattan. There, he is responsible for helping clients achieve their fitness goals through personal group and class training.
