Milica Balandzic is in her first season as the head women’s volleyball coach after joining the the City College of New York in August 2016. Prior to coming to City College, Balandzic spent time as assistant coach at Fashion Institute of Technology and Baruch College.
A native of Montenegro, Balandzic played club volleyball in Montenegro for 10 years. As an undergraduate student, she earned full scholarships to play volleyball at Mineral Area College (2007-09). She was named All-Region in 2008.
After graduating from Mineral Area College, Coach Balandzic received an athletic scholarship to attend Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO.
At the Fashion Institute of Technology, Balandzic helped coach a team that was nationally ranked for much of the season finishing 24-9 and advanced to the Region XV Semifinals.
Prior to joining the staff at FIT, she spent a season on the staff at Baruch College men’s volleyball team. At Baruch, she assisted with strength and conditioning, practice and game planning and recruiting.
In 2011 she has served as a volleyball coach for the YMCA program in Kansas City and an assistant coach for Jyle Volleyball in Finland from September 2012 to September 2013.
She also coached at the middle school level with Avenues World School and led them to the 2014 A.I.P.S.L. Middle School Volleyball Championship.
Balandzic earned Bachelor’s of Science (2011) with a concentration in Sport Science, Physical Therapy, Health and Wellness from Rockhurst University and Master’s of Science (2014) in Biology of Physical Activity with a concentration in Sport Coaching and Fitness Testing from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland.
