The City College of New York women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to John Jay on Thursday evening for their final conference matchup of the regular season. With the loss to John Jay, CCNY will be the No. 8 seed for the CUNYAC Tournament and face No.1 seeded Baruch.
The Beavers came out strong looking to take control of the Bloodhounds. City searched for a conference victory to push them out of the eighth seed for the tournament. John Jay continued to fight and chipped at the Beavers lead, but CCNY dominated and took the first set 25-18.
John Jay turned around and quickly took control of the second set. The Beavers were unable to stop the Bloodhounds on their fight for a victory. John Jay took the second set 25-8.
The third set looked a lot like the first set where the score remained close. Both teams wanted to take the set advantage in hopes of taking the match. John Jay took the lead and CCNY was unable to regain the lead. The Bloodhounds took the third set 25-18.
In what would be the final set of the match, John Jay took the lead to begin. While the Beavers chipped away at the lead they were unable to stop the Bloodhounds. John Jay took the fourth set and match 25-12.
Angela Ubanwa led the Beavers with five kills, while she also recorded 10 digs.
Cassidy Iannariello dished out eight assists, while
Magd Zamzam added four. Veralucia Quispe tallied 13 digs.
The Beavers will travel to Rosemont on Saturday, October 31 for the Rosemont Tri-match. The team will face Hood at 1 p.m. before facing Rosemont at 3 p.m.
