The City College of New York women's volleyball team split at the Rosemont Tri-match on Saturday, October 31. First, they fell 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-14) to Hood College and then defeated Rosemont 3-2 (18-25, 17-25, 25-13, 25-20, 15-8).

Match Two (vs. Rosemont)
The first set would forcast the tough battle ahead for the both squads as they fought for the lead. Both teams battled back and forth for the entirety of the set. Rosemont took the lead would gave them the first set 25-18.

Rosemont used their momentum from the victory in the first set to help propel them in the second set. CCNY battled and was able to pick up some ground, but Rosemont took the second set 25-17.

CCNY would not give up that easily even being down 2-0. The Beavers fought hard and continued to battle the hosts Rosemont. City took the advantage and would not let the Ravens take the lead. CCNY would take the third set 25-13.

After winning the third set, City searched for the victory in the fourth set. Both teams fought the hardest in this set as the point continued to go back and forth. CCNY would take the lead that Rosemont was unable to regain the lead from. City took the fourth set 25-20.

With the match tied 2-2, the toughest battle the two teams would face would be here in the fifth set. The Beavers quickly took the lead. While Rosemont battled and was able to put up big stops, it was not enough. City took the fifth set and match 15-8.

Angela Ubanwa notcher her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 13 kills and 11 digs. Cassidy Iannariello dished out a team-high 23 assists. Veralucia Quispe tallied 10 digs, while Irishvarsha Iyyadurai tallied nine digs and seven service aces.

Match One (vs. Hood College)
Hood College took the lead quickly in the first set. The Beavers, understanding what is was like to be down to start a set, fought back hard. CCNY continued to battle with Hood in the first set but was unable to take them down. Hood took the first set 25-10.

There was no stopping the dominance of Hood in the second set. The Blazers showed no mercy as they continued to pick up points while the Beavers tried to make stops. Hood quickly took the second set 25-7.

CCNY fought hard to take control of the third set. Hood continued to hold the advantage over the Beavers though. City fought hard but Hood took the third set and the match 25-14.

Pui-Yan Yu led the Beavers with four kills.. Cassidy Iannariello dished out a team-high 10 assists. Irishvarsha Iyyadurai led the team with six digs, while Angela Ubanwa and Iannariello tallied four.

Next up for the Beavers is facing No. 1 seeded Baruch in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Tournament.
