With their 2-1 (2OT) win over the College of Staten Island in the CUNYAC Finals, the City College of New York men's soccer team punched their ticket to the NCAA DIII Tournament. City will travel to SUNY Oneonta to play in the first round of the 2015 Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
The match will take place on Saturday, November 14 at Red Dragon Field on the campus of SUNY Oneonta at 11 a.m.
The Beavers will head into the tournament with an 11-7-0 record. The team boasts a .438 shots on goal percentage as well as a .798 save percentage. Before the one goal allowed in the CUNYAC Finals,
Maxwell Berkow had not allowed a goal since October 17. He enters the tournament with 94 saves.
Mostafa Haridi was named CUNYAC Tournament MVP after his header at the 103' that gave the Beavers their first CUNYAC Title since 2005.
SUNY Oneonta boasts a 15-3-1 record going into the tournament. The Red Dragons earned their playoff berth by defeating SUNY Brockport 3-0 in the SUNYAC Championship. The Red Dragons are ranked 10th in the NCAA in team goals against average (0.49) while their goal keeper, Vincent Pellegrino, ranks 16th in NCAA DIII in goals against average (.514). Oneonta has a six-match winning streak going into the tournament.
The Red Dragons are ranked 13th in the NSCAA Coaches NCAA DIII Poll, while also being ranked first in the regional rankings for the East division.
