The City College of New York women's volleyball team swept Medgar Evers 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-18) for their first conference win of the season.
The Beavers (2-8, 1-2 CUNYAC) took control of the match from the start and never looked back. CCNY dominated the Cougars by holding them to a negative attack percentage in the first two sets. City took the first set 25-10.
City continued to show their dominance over Medgar Evers. With the help of the whole team, they were able to dominate and take the second set 25-15.
Knowing they had one set to take the match, CCNY went into the third set strong. They finished the set with an impressive .600 attack percentage. City took the third set and the match 25-18.
Angela Ubanwa led the team with nine kills, while
Irishvarsha Iyyadurai added four.
Cassidy Iannariello dished out 12 assists and
Magd Zamzam had eight.
Veralucia Quispe addeed 15 digs.
The team put up an impressive .317 attack percentage, while holding Medgar Evers to a -.088 percentage. CCNY had 13 service aces along with two team blocks.
CCNY continues their conference road trip as they face the College of Staten Island Thursday September 17 at 7 p.m.
