The City College of New York women's volleyball team dropped two matches at the FDU-Florham Devils Tri-match in Madison, New Jersey. The Beavers fell 3-0 (25-5, 25-20, 25-14) to the host FDU-Florham and then 3-0 (25-5, 25-16, 25-14) to The College of Mount Saint Vincent.
Match Two (College of Mount Saint Vincent)The College of Mount Saint Vincent (2-11) started the first set just like the Devils did in the first match of the day. CCNY (3-6) put up some points, but fell in the first set 25-5.
City put up a fight in the following two sets, but the College of Mount Saint Vincent continued to dominate. They took the second and third set, 25-16 and 15-14, respectively.
Angela Ubanwa led the Beavers with five kills, while she added one block.
Magd Zamzam dished out a team high nine assists and seven figs.
Match One (vs. FDU-Florham)The Devils (9-2) quickly took control of the first set. The Beavers (2-10) were unable to stop the Devils as they took the first set 25-5.
CCNY came back in the second set strong. It was a back-and-forth set as both teams continued to rack up points. FDU-Florham was able to get the advantage and took the second set 25-20.
The Devils looked to close out the match in a quick third set, but the Beavers would not go quietly. City came up strong, but was unable to pick up the win as the Devils took the third set and the match 25-14.
Angela Ubanwa led the Beavers with eight kills, as the team had 18.
Magd Zamzam dished out 15 assists.
Veralucia Quispe added six digs, while
Brigitte Bozer had four.
CCNY returns to Nat Holman Gymnasium on Tuesday September 22 as they face Sarah Lawrence at 7 p.m.
