Men's Basketball Falls To Baruch

City College of New York men's basketball team fell 88-79 to Baruch on Friday evening in Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Baruch (9-7, 5-3 CUNYAC) started the game off strong, but City (9-7, 4-4 CUNYAC) was not far behind. The first couple of minutes of the game were back-and-forth between the conference foes. The Bearcats went on a 8-0 run to take a 8-17 lead that gave them a comfortable cushion for the first half. Baruch went on another 7-0 run to take their largest lead of the game with the score 21-38. City went into the locker room trailing 35-47.

The 47 points scored by Baruch is the highest points allowed in the first half by the Beavers this season.

City shot 44.1 percent from the field, but could not stop the 62.1 percent field goal percentage that Baruch put up in the first half. Mark Richards led the Beavers with 12 points, while Robbie Dionisio led with four rebounds.

CCNY came out strong in the second half as they started with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 40-47. City continued to fight hard in the paint and force stops to keep themselves in the game. The Beavers tied the score 64-64, but then Baruch went on a 4-0 run to take the lead again. The Bearcats remained in control for the rest of the game and took the win 88-79.

Khalil Hamer finished the game with a team-high 27 points, while Mark Richards and David Solano added 18 and 16, respectively. Hamer also finished the game with eight assists. Dionisio and Blake Borysewicz both tallied six boards a piece. City finished the game with a 51.6 field goal percentage.

City will travel to face Brooklyn on January 20. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
