New York, NY - The City College men's basketball team earned a 75-61 victory at Hunter College in conference play Friday night.
The Beavers led the entire first half. The team's largest lead came with 2:02 left when CCNY had a 22-point lead (41-19) over Hunter. City College would go into break leading 43-26.
Early in the second half, Hunter would start to turn around and go on a 10-2 run for the Hawks. The run brought the game within seven points (49-42) with 15 minutes remaining. Later in the game (6:00) Hunter would tie the game (61-61) after a made bucket from Matt Franks.
CCNY would hang on and go on a 13-4 run to close out the game. The Beavers won with a final score of 75-61.
Senior Robbie Dionisio led the Beavers with a 25-points and eight rebounds in the win. Senior Mark Richards added 18-points, five boards and two steals. Senior Khalil Hamer had 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks . Junior Brendan Hauser saw action in the starting lineup and ended with five steals and five points for the Lavender & Black.
Hunter's Amer Lukac led the home team with a 25-points, 13-rebounds. Matt Franks ended with 15-points and six rebounds.
The Beavers out shot Hunter in the contest 46% to 42%. CCNY held a 14-17 turnover margin and out rebounded Hunter 36-to-34.
The City College men's basketball team is 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. CCNY returns to action when they travel to Farmingdale, NY to take on Farmingdale State College on Monday (Dec. 12) at 7:00 pm.
