Old Westbury, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team dropped a tight, 77-71, decision to Farmingdale State College on Monday night.
City College had a early lead in the game (16:59), leading Farmingdale by nine points (11-2) after a three pointer from Brendan Hauser. The Rams would answer back and end the half ahead 36-31.
Farmingdale led the game midway through the second half. A pair of free throws by Khalil Hamer, would help the team go on a 11-4 run and give CCNY a 10-point led (60-50) with 6:44 remaining.
Farmingdale would begin to rally back and with 40 seconds remaining the Rams only trailed the Beavers byy one point (71-70). The Beavers would commit a costly foul with 29 second remaining that sent the home team to the foul line. Farmingdale connected on both free throws to take a 72-71 lead.
In the final 23 seconds, missed shot attempts and fouls by CCNY would aid Farmingdale to score five more unanswered points and escape with a 77-71 victory.
Senior David Solano led the Beavers with a game-high 22-points and six rebounds. Senior Mark Richards added 11-points, four boards. Senior Robbie Dionisio had nine points and eight rebounds. Khalil Hamer posted eight points, six rebounds, five rebounds, and four steals.
The City College Men's Basketball team is now 2-6 overall. Their next game will be at home against McDaniel College on Friday, December 30th, at 4:00PM.
