New York, NY – The City College Men's Basketball team ended the year of 2016 with a overtime victory Friday night over McDaniel College, 75-67. Three players scored in double figures.
In the first half, the Beavers controlled the pace. CCNY held the lead the entire half. Robbie Dionisio paced the offense, scoring 15 points in the half. The Beavers ended the half holding a eight point lead over McDaniel, 40-32.
In second half, the Beavers would build a 14-point lead (46-32) after a good layup from Khalil Hamer with under 17 minutes remaining.
With 5:35 left in the second half, McDaniel would close the gap,on a 9-2 run bringing the game within 1-point (59-62) with 25 seconds left. With two seconds on the clock, McDaniel's Nick Perugino would hit the game tying three-pointer to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, the Beavers would outscore the McDaniel 13-5 in the extra period to secure a 75-67 overtime victory.
In the game, three CCNY player's finished in double-figures .Senior Robbie Dionisio notched his second double-double of the season in the game. Dionisio recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Khalil Hamer posted 18-points, seven assists,five boards, and three steals. Junior Salvatore Palazzolo played well off the bench scoring 16-points. Mark Richards added eight points to go along with six rebounds and Senior David Solano totaled seven points and nine rebounds.
The City College Men's Basketball team is now improves to 4-6 overall on the season. The team will return to conference play next week against John Jay College on Wednesday, January 4th, at 7:00PM.
