The City College of New York baseball team fell in both games against Wesley on Sunday afternoon in Dover, Deleware at Bob Reed Field. In the first game, the Wolverines won 11-2, and then defeated CCNY 14-0
Game OneMichael Siklas led off the game with a double to get the ball rolling for the Beavers. He would advance to third on a balk.
Adrian Pena brought Siklas in with a sacrifice fly to give City a 1-0 lead.
Wesley would not be far behind as they scored two runs off of two hits in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.
The Wolverines continued to take control, while the Beaver bats fell silent. Wesley held a 9-1 lead going into the sixth inning.
Ariel Xavier Torres started the inning off being walked.
Sadar Khanbilvardi was also walked which advanced Torres to second.
Uche Nwokelo brought Torres in with a single down the left field line. City still trailed 9-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Wesley picked up two more runs in the sixth inning for a 11-2 lead. City was unable to get anything going in the seventh inning as the Wolverines took game one 11-2.
Cal Romano started on the mound for the Beavers and pitched 2.2 innings. He faced 13 batters and gave up four earned runs. Anthony Sautter came in for 1.1 innings and gave up four runs, but only one was earned in his 10 batters faced. Lorenzo Hiraldo entered for the final two innings and in his 14 batters faced, he gave up three earned runs. Game TwoWesley was the first to get things going in game two of the double header. The Wolverines would only take a 1-0 lead after the second inning.
It would not be until the fourth inning that the Beavers would even get a hit. Torres got the sole hit of the inning for City.
The Wolverines would come up with a big fourth inning. Wesley recorded 10 runs off of 10 hits in the bottom of the fourth to take a 11-0 lead.
City recorded their other two only hits of the game in the fifth inning. First RJ Saint-Hillaire singled to left field. Then Siklas singled to center field.
In the final two innings for the Wolverines, they would tally three runs and take the game 14-0.
Joseph DeCarlo started the game for City and pitched 3.1 innings. He gave up 10 runs off of 10 hits. Josef Bystrik came in for relief for 1.2 innings and recorded 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and one strikeout.
Matt Sola-Baker pitched the final inning for CCNY and gave up one run and tallied two strikeouts for City.
City will travel to Winchester, Virginia to face Shenandoah University on Saturday, March 5.
