Men's Basketball Falls To Baruch

The City College of New York men's basketball team fell 79-59 to Baruch College on Tuesday evening.

At the beginning, both teams exchanged points and went back-and-forth with the lead. Baruch (13-10, 9-5 CUNYAC) then went on a 15-0 run to take a 26-13 lead. City (12-11, 6-8 CUNYAC) chipped away at the lead, but could not gain the advantage in the first half. Little by little the Beavers fought back, but trailed 39-29 at half time.

Salvatore Palazzolo led the Beavers with eight points at the half, while Robbie Dionisio led with six rebounds. The Beavers shot an impressive .481 from the field, but it would come up short compared to the Bearcats .500 field goal percentage.

The Beavers brought the score within nine points, but then the Bearcats turned on their engines and sped away. Baruch would go up by as much as 21-points during the second half, and left City searching for a way to stop them. CCNY fought hard, but could not catch up to the Bearcats. During the final minutes of the game, City continued to give it all they had, but it would not be enough this game. Baruch took the advantage and took the game 79-59.

Palazzolo and Khalil Hamer led the Beavers with 14 points a piece. Dionisio and Palazzolo each grabbed six rebounds against Baruch. CCNY shot .481 from the field on the game, but Baruch shot .491. Baruch was able to capitalize and score 30 points off of Beaver turnovers.

City looks to turn their week around on Friday when they travel to face John Jay in their second to last regular season game. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
