Centenary Tops Baseball In Series Opener

The City College of New York baseball team fell 14-2 to Centenary College (NJ) on Friday afternoon. This is the opening game of a three-game series against the Cyclones.

Centenary got the game started early with one run in the first inning. After a scoreless second inning for both teams, the Cyclones had a huge third inning. Centenary scored seven runs off of three hits to take a 8-0 lead.

The Beavers would remain scoreless while the Cyclones added one run in the fifth and had another big seventh inning. Centenary added five more to take a 14-0 lead.

City got things going in the eighth inning. Joseph DeCarlo got things started for CCNY when he reached on an error. Josef Bystrik moved DeCarlo to second when he singled right up the middle. Both would advanced when Elmy Antonio singled to right field. Michael Siklas singled through the left side to bring DeCarlo in for City's first run of the game. Anthony Cacchione reached on a fielder's choice which brought Bystrik in for the second run for the Beavers. That would be all the Beavers would get across in the eighth.

It would be a final scoreless inning for both teams as City fell in the first game of the series 14-2.
