The City College of New York men's tennis team fell 9-0 to CUNYAC opponent Baruch on Friday afternoon. The Beavers fall to 1-1, 0-1 CUNYAC, while Baruch improves to 2-1, 1-0 CUNYAC.
Baruch started the match off with quick victories during doubles. Both
Max Bernstein and Kashfi Simon in the number one position and
Andrew Bregman and
Alejandro Varela in the number two position fell 8-1 in their respective doubles matches.
Andrew Chen and
Brian Chen were defeated 8-2 in the number three doubles positions. The Bearcats held a 3-0 advantage going into singles play.
Andrew Chen fell 6-0, 6-0 at the number five position to Samuel Hajibai, while
Austin Thai fell 6-2, 6-0 in the number four spot.Bregman was unable to take a set as Lewis Pena took control and took the point 6-1, 6-2 for the Bearcats. Bernstein and Kashfi fell on their respective courts 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1.
Brian Chen, in the number six position, fell 10-3, 8-0 the Bearcats took the sweep.
City will go up against John Jay on Sunday, March 13 at 2:30. The match will take place at York College.
