The City College of New York men's tennis team was topped 6-3 by Rutgers-Newark on Thursday evening. The Beavers fall to 3-9 on the season, while Rutgers-Newark improves to 5-6.

Rutgers-Newark took control early in doubles by taking both the points on the third court and first court. Reginald Duvalsaint and Andrew Bregman took the point for the Beavers to keep the match close as they headed to singles play. Pavel Shapturenka and Max Bernstein played tight on court one, but fell 8-6. Rubin Lehman and Austin Thai were defeated 8-1 on court three. City trailed 2-1 going into singles.

Both Bernstein and Duvalsaint came out victorious on their respective courts in singles play too. Bernstein defeated Nadeem Hilal on court two 7-6, 6-0 to give City their second point. Duvalsaint picked up the third point for CCNY with a 6-4, 7-5 win on court four. Rutgers-Newark took all other four singles points. Shapturenka fell on court one 6-3, 6-2, while Bregman was topped 6-1, 6-3. Thai gave a solid effort by winning the second set, but could not seal the deal and fell 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. Lehman was defeated 6-2, 6-2 on court six.
