The City College of New York men's tennis team was defeated 6-3 by CUNYAC opponent John Jay on Sunday. 

Both teams fought hard in doubles play as they looked to gain the advantage before singles. City was able to come away with one point, but John Jay still led 2-1 heading into singles. CCNY took the singles point with a 9-7 victory on court three from Austin Thai and Andrew Chen.

The competition was tough in singles as both teams battled for a victory. Andrew Bregman was able to give CCNY another point when won on court four 6-2, 7-5. City would only get one more point in singles from Austin Thai with his fifth court victory 6-2, 6-5. 

Alejandro Varela put up a fight on court three and took the first set 5-7, but fell 7-5 (10-8) to give John Jay the point. Max Bernstein almost took the first set but John Jay was tough and won 7-6 and quickly took the second set 6-1. Pavel Shapturenka, in the number one position, could not stop the Bloodhounds as he fell 6-1, 6-4. Andrew Chen fell on court six 6-4, 6-4.

The Beavers will face CUNYAC opponent Brooklyn College on Friday, March 18.
