The City College of New York men's tennis team was defeated by CSI 8-1 on Saturday afternoon in Purchase, New York. City fell to 1-3, 0-3 CUNYAC, while CSI improved to 1-1, 1-0 CUNYAC.
CSI started off the match by taking all three doubles points for a big 3-0 advantage. However, the Beavers would not go down without a fight. On court one, doubles partners,
Andrew Bregman and
Max Bernstein, fell short 8-5 against CSI.
Austin Thai and
Alejandro Varela fell 8-3, while
Daniel Villaroel and
Andrew Chen fell 8-2 on court three. CSI started singles play with a 3-0 lead.
Brian Chen would get the sole point for CCNY on court six. Chen took down Aldo Rodriguez 6-3, 6-2.
Andrew Chen put up in fight in the second set against Alex Tusi but fell 6-0, 7-5 on court four. Both Max Bernstien and
Austin Thai fell 6-2, 6-3 on the respective first and fourth court.
Andrew Bregman was unable to stop Chris Pinto and was defeated 6-3, 6-2. Alejandro, in the number three spot, could not hold off Matthew Vesci and fell 6-3, 6-0. CSI took the match 8-1.
City will travel to St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Thursday, March 24. Match is set for 5 p.m.
