Baseball To Face John Jay in First Round Elimination Game

The City College of New York baseball team earned the #6 seed in the CUNYAC Tournament and will face the #3 seed John Jay in the first round elimination game. The game will be played at Westchester Community College at 1 p.m. The winner of the game will then face #2 Baruch at 4 p.m.

City and John Jay faced each other in their final games of the regular season and split. The Bloodhounds took the first game 5-1, and then City fought back and took the second game 7-1. 

CCNY brings to the plate two conference rookie of the week players, Michael Siklas and Rob Mandich as well as d3baseball.com short stop of the week Adrian Pena. On the mound, Sacha Urbach remains the ace in the rotation. Pena leads the team with a .405 batting average, followed by Siklas who boasts a .322 batting average. Pena also had a 16-game hitting streak this season as well as tallying his 100th career hit. Pena also leads the team with 20 runs batted in. 

Siklas leads the team with 19 runs and is second with 15 runs batted in. Siklas also leads the team with 14 walks. Mandich has brought in 12 runs for the Beavers. 

Urbach is ranked 20th in the NCAA with his 12 games started, 19 players are ahead of him tied with 13 starts. He has pitched four complete games and holds a 5.98 ERA over his 61.2 innings pitched.

John Jay will look to Dylan Laudano and Brandon Thomas on offense. Laudano boasts a .387 batting average, while Thomas holds a .361. On the mound, the Bloodhounds will look to Matthew Quirindongo to help them with their push toward a CUNYAC Championship. Quirindongo has a 4.93 ERA in his 49.1 innings pitched. 

The winner of the CCNY v. John Jay game will face Baruch who finished the conference schedule 6-2. 

Baruch's pitcher Cameron Kitt holds a 2.01 ERA with a 4-2 record in his six games started. Jasdeep Buttar leads the team with a .367 batting average as he has recorded 33 hits and drove in 21 runs. Matthew Ballone is also a force to be reckoned with as he has been walked 18 rimes and scored 16 runs for the Bearcats. As the #2 seed in the tournament, Baruch is hoping to continue their way to CSI Stadium for the second round games.
