Cartage Bests CCNY In Season Opener, 6-0

Cambridge, M.A. – The City College of New York men's soccer team dropped its season-opener Thursday afternoon, falling to Cartage College, 6-0. 

In the first half the Beavers played a tight game with the Red Men. The team only allowed one goal at half time. Senior Goalkeeper Maxwell Berkow had a busy day playing 60:00 and made eight saves while giving up four goals in the game. Marcus Depompeis also saw time in goal making seven saves and allowing two goals.

Cartage got on the board in the second half putting up five goals. The team recorded a total of 29 shots in the game. The quick strike for Cartage pushed the Beavers against the wall during the second half.

"There's a lot of things we can take from this game" said Coach Ignaccolo  "We have a lot of young player's on our roster who can use this game to grow. As a team we can use this game to study and learn from that will prepare us for our next set of games."

The Beavers next game will be on the road at SUNY Maritime College on Saturday (Sep. 3). Kick off between the Beavers and Privateers set for 11:00 am.
