Hamer leads CCNY To 92-86 Comeback Victory Over York

New York, NYKhalil Hamer scored a career high 33-points to lead the City College Beavers to a 92-86 comeback victory over York College on Wednesday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Hamer's huge scoring night sparked an improbable rally from a 12-point second-half deficit for the Beavers.

CCNY trailed, 61-49, midway through the second half, but Mark Richards scored 15-points in the second half and helped set the stage for a 16-to-4 run to erase the deficit to tie the game (65-65) with 10:41 remaining.

York foul trouble would help CCNY late in game. The York Cardinal's committed 23 costly fouls in the second half alone and sent the Beavers to the foul line 30 times. York also had four of their player reach the foul limit in the game, which would hamper the team.

CCNY would pull away in the final minutes to earn their fifth straight win with the comeback victory.

Along with his career high 33-points, Khalil Hamer ended with eight rebounds, four steals and three assists in 40 minutes of play. Mark Richards also finished the game with a career-high 25-points (9-for-13 from the field), and nine rebounds. David Solano had another good shooting night, adding 17 points for the Lavender and Black.

The City College Men's Basketball team improves to 8-6 overall and remain in second place of the conference standing with 6-2 mark. The team will play Lehman College next Wednesday night (Jan. 18 ) at home starting a 8:00pm.
