JAMAICA, NY - The CCNY men's basketball team earned its first win under first-year head coach
Paul Dail with an 86-77 conference victory over York College Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers found themselves down by seven with less than twelve minutes in the second half, after being outscored by York 23-to-17 to start the half. CCNY used an 11-3 run to take their first lead of the second half with 7:21 remaining in regulation.
The Lavender & Black would extend their lead to as much as 12-points, following a layup from
James White at the 2:28 mark.
The Beavers ended the game on an 8-0 run to secure their first victory of the season, 86-77.
The duo of senior
Salvatore Palazzolo and junior
James White split a combined 44 points in the win. This marks the third 20+ point game for the both this season. Palazzolo also contributed a game-high 15 rebounds and four assists. While White shot 8-for-12 for the charity stripe.
Enesco Hunte matched his season-high of 17 points after netting 14 in the second half alone and dished out three assists.
Brendan Hauser had 12 points for the game, including four rebounds to help carry the Beavers to the nine-point win.
Freshman
Ian Javier shot a perfect three-for-three for the field, connecting on two three-pointers, ending the afternoon with eight points. Senior
Dardan Lahu started in his first contest this season, finishing with five points and six rebounds.
The Beavers continue their three-game road trip, as CCNY takes on the College of New Rochelle on Monday for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
