Jamaica, NY - The CCNY men's basketball team erased a 17-point first-half deficit to edge out the York College Cardinals, 83-77, in a key CUNY Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday.
With the win, the Beavers move up to sixth place in the CUNYAC standings, improving to 5-8 in league play. With the top six teams advancing to the postseason, CCNY controls the final position with a one-game lead.
Opening the game, York established a 15-9 lead less than five minutes into the half. After trailing by 17-points, the Beavers put together a 10-0 run later in the half, narrowing the lead down to five (30-15) with 5:10 remaining in the period. CCNY would head into halftime down by nine points to the Cardinals, 47-38.
In the second half, the Cardinals extended their lead to 11-points (49-38) in the opening seconds of the half. The Beavers answered back going on a 13-2 to take a one-point lead, 56-55 with 10:31 remaining in regulation.
CCNY would control the lead over the final stretch of the game, building up a six-point margin with 1:20 to go in the contest. Back-to-back buckets by the Cardinals helped them cut the lead to two points (79-77) with under a minute left. But the Beavers would hold on to secure the 83-77 victory.

Mike White led the charge for the Lavender & Black, scoring a career-high 27 points, hitting 8-of-18 from the field and going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Junior
Ty-Ler Banks recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
