Jamaica, NY - The CCNY men's basketball team erased a 17-point first-half deficit to edge out the York College Cardinals, 83-77, in a key CUNY Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday. 

With the win, the Beavers move up to sixth place in the CUNYAC standings, improving to 5-8 in league play. With the top six teams advancing to the postseason, CCNY controls the final position with a one-game lead.

Opening the game, York established a 15-9 lead less than five minutes into the half.  After trailing by 17-points, the Beavers put together a 10-0 run later in the half, narrowing the lead down to five (30-15) with 5:10 remaining in the period. CCNY would head into halftime down by nine points to the Cardinals, 47-38.

In the second half, the Cardinals extended their lead to 11-points (49-38) in the opening seconds of the half. The Beavers answered back going on a 13-2 to take a one-point lead, 56-55 with 10:31 remaining in regulation.

CCNY would control the lead over the final stretch of the game, building up a six-point margin with 1:20 to go in the contest. Back-to-back buckets by the Cardinals helped them cut the lead to two points (79-77) with under a minute left. But the Beavers would hold on to secure the 83-77 victory.

Senior Mike White led the charge for the Lavender & Black, scoring a career-high 27 points, hitting 8-of-18 from the field and going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Junior Ty-Ler Banks recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Junior Romello Rashad tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the win. Senior Wils Jazilek finished with nine points, three assists, and two steals.
