Purchase, NY - The CCNY men's basketball team returned to the hardwood Monday evening, dropping a non-conference matchup to Manhattanville College, 101-85. The Beavers even to 2-2 overall with the loss.
Sophomore
Yassine Sakhi matched his career-high, leading all scoring 28 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Senior
Joey Leighton chipped in a career-high 21 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in his first start of the season. Sophomore
Amir Assani finished the evening scoring in double-figures for the fourth straight game, posting 13 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists.
Freshman
Bayame Bah poured in 11 points for the Beavers and tallied three rebounds and three assists. Junior
Dashaun Galloway posted seven points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals in the loss. Freshman
Elijah Patterson ended the night with four points and seven boards.
The Valiants used an 18-3 run midway through the first half to jump out to a double-digit lead (36-19) with 7:41 to play. The Beavers closed within six points (42-36) as a basket from Sakhi capped off a 10-4 run in the late stretch of the half.
Manhattanville pulled away in the second half, knocking down their first six of eight shots to jump out to a 17-point lead (57-40) with 16:43 to go. The Valiants controlled the rest of the contest, closing the night with a 101-85 victory.
The Beavers shot 43.2% from the field in the contest, with the Valiants connecting on 50.6% of their attempts. Manhattanville also held a 45-42 advantage on the boards.
Next, CCNY continues its five-game road stretch traveling to Mahwah, New Jersey, to take on Ramapo College on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 6:00 p.m.
