Men's Basketball Reaches .500 Mark With Victory Over CMSV

Riverdale, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team reached the .500 overall mark with an impressive all-around, 72-68, victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent at Peter Jay Sharp Center on Wednesday night. The win moves the Beavers to 4-4 overall.

CCNY shot 42.2% from the field and connected on nine three-point field goals. The Beavers held Mount Saint Vincent to a 38.0% field goal percentage and just 5-for-23 (21.7%) from long range. The Dolphins held the advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Beavers 46-38 in the contest.

Sophomore Yassine Sakhi led CCNY, posting his first double-double of the season and fifth of his career. He finished with a game-high 23 points, a season-high ten rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Junior Dashaun Galloway also played a key role in their win, tallying his first double-double of the season with 11 points and a season-high 11 rebounds. He also had four assists, two steals, and a pair of blocks in the win.

Senior Joey Leighton finished in double-figures, netting 11 points while pulling down a season-high six rebounds, along with three assists and two steals. Junior Daniel Piszczatowski added ten points and two rebounds.

Sophomore Amir Assani finished the night with nine points, four rebounds, and a block, while freshman Luqman Ahmed posted a season-high eight points and two rebounds off the bench, shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.

Next, the Beavers head to Hartford, Conn. on Saturday, Dec. 11, for a non-conference contest against Trinity College at 1:00 p.m.
