Poughkeepsie, NY - The City College of New York women's fencing program began postseason competition on Sunday, competing at the 2022 Eastern Women's Fencing Conference Championships, hosted by Vassar College. The Beavers finished tenth overall as a team.
In the individual portion of the Championships, Freshman Jazmyn Flythe placed 15th in women's foil, followed by Afia Osei Boahen, who finished 16th overall. Freshman Amelie Chushko earned a tenth place finish in the women's epee, while Kamal Seerat garnered a 17th place finish. Freshman Izel Rueda-Sierra Izel placed 17th in the women's saber, followed by Karina Torres, finishing 18th in the weapon.
In addition, freshman Izel Rueda-Sierra was recognized on the 2021-22 EWFC All-Academic Team. Rueda-Sierra, a political science major, holds a 3.74 grade-point average.
