New York, NY - The CCNY men's volleyball program fell in straight sets to Baruch College at home on Tuesday night in CUNY Athletic Conference play. The loss drops the Beavers to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in league play.
The Bearcats took the opening set, carving out a 25-9 set victory. Trailing by five points late in the second period (23-18), the Beavers scored five straight unanswered points to even the contest at 23-23. Baruch held on to close out the set, outscoring CCNY 3-1 to notch a 26-24 set win. Each team played a tightly contested match in the third frame, sharing four lead changes in the early portion of the set. With the set tied at 15-15, the Bearcats used a 10-2 run to close the match.
Freshman
Rahul Sharma led the Beavers with eight kills and six digs. Sophomore
Xhulio Myftari finished with eight kills, five digs, and two aces. Freshman
Utpal Chand added six kills and a team-high seven kills, while freshman
Jeffrey Celis tallied 22 assists.
Next, the Beavers take on Brooklyn College on the road on Thursday, Mar. 10 at 7:00 p.m.
