Bronxville, NY - The CCNY women's volleyball team had its five-match winning streak snapped Wednesday night, falling to Sarah Lawrence College on the road, 3-0. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 5-1.
Trailing by 12 points in the first set, CCNY rallied with a 16-5 run to bring the match within one point (23-22) late in the frame. The Gryphons escaped the set with a 25-23 win. Sarah Lawrence pulled together in the second and third frames, earning 25-17 and 25-21 decisions, to secure a three-set non-conference victory over the Beavers.
Sophomore
Bianka Catral ended the night with a team-high six kills, seven digs, and seven aces.
Aubrey Jones notched her second career double-double, posting 14 assists and ten digs. Sophomore
Arianna Rivas added a team-high 12 digs and three kills.
Senior
Nadia Campoverde finished with three kills and six digs, while rookie
Nila Tom chipped in four kills and two digs.
Michelle Fernandez tallied a season-high nine digs, while
Serena Warner had a pair of kills.
Next, the Beavers return to the Nat Holman Gymnasium on Friday, Sept. 16, hosting Purchase College at 7:00 p.m.
