New York, NY - The City College of New York women's volleyball team opened the 2022 season with an impressive sweep over the Yeshiva University Maccabees on Thursday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.
The win marks the first career victory for Interim Head Coach
Vaughn Ford.
City College took the first set over Yeshiva, 25-16. The Beavers cruised through the second set, holding the Maccabees to only three points (25-3). In the final frame, CCNY closed the match with a 25-18 win en route to their three-set victory.
Sophomore
Bianka Catral led the Beavers with a match-high 14 kills, eight digs, and eight service aces. Senior
Nadia Campoverde piled up six kills, 11 digs, and three aces in the win. Freshman
Nila Tom finished with five kills and three solo blocks.
Freshman
Aubrey Jones dished out a match-high 26 assists in her debut for Beavers. Sophomore
Arianna Rivas ended with four kills and a match-high 15 digs, while sophomore
Viviana Alatorre tallied 12 digs of her own.
Next, the Beavers head across town to take on Maritime College on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7:00 p.m.
