Madison, NJ, The City College of New York baseball program returned to the diamond Friday afternoon, dropping a close one-run decision to FDU-Florham, 6-5.
The Beavers struck first in the contest, scoring the first of the afternoon after infielder
John Creegan reached home on a wild pitch.
FDU took the lead in the fifth inning, scoring two runs on Tyrus Chippendale two-RBI single,
With one out in the top of the seventh,
Mike Savino drove in the tying run on an RBI single, tying.
Eric Romero added the next run for the Beavers, stealing home to regain the lead for CCNY, 3-2. Creegan doubled to right field in the next at-bat, driving in Savino to extend CCNY's lead, 4-2.
In the bottom of the eighth, FDU answered back with two runs. The Devils evened the game on Jack Giovenco's RBI single. Chippendale recaptured the lead for FDU, with an RBI three-base hit to left center.
With two outs in the top of the ninth, the Beavers, Creegan singled through the right side, plating Romero for an unearned run. FDU cut off the Beaver's late rally, securing
Creegan led the Beavers in the game, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.

On the mound, right-handed pitcher
Brandon Paider made his start of the season, recording three K's in 5.0 innings played while only allowing two runs.
