CCNY Baseball Falls In A Non-Conference Doubleheader at Purchase on Sunday

Purchase, NY - The CCNY baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games on Sunday, falling to Purchase College. The Beavers lost game one, 12-9, and fell late to the Panthers in game two, 8-5.

Game One: Purchase 12, CCNY 9

In game one, Jonathan Rivera went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Tyler DiBlasi also finished 3-for-4, driving in one run. Freshman Kevin Budzinski had a pair of hits and a run while Austin Ortiz tallied three RBI's.

Game Two: Purchase 8, CCNY 5
The Panthers scored early, putting up three runs on four hits and an error in the first inning. 

In the second frame, CCNY evened the game with three runs of their own. Eric Romero brought in the Beaver's first run on an RBI walk. Freshman Mike Savino knocked in the tying runs with a two-RBI base hit up the middle.

After two scoreless innings, CCNY broke the tie in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, freshman Chris Lamond lifted the Beavers to a two-run lead, 5-3, with a two-RBI single to right field.

The Panthers responded in the sixth, tying the game by securing two runs on three hits. With two outs in the seventh innings, Purchase would score the deciding runs on Frank Rega's three-RBI double, taking the game 8-5.

Freshman Ismael Jimenez took the loss in 6.2 innings of work. He threw four scoreless innings without three strikeouts, allowing seven runs on eight hits. 

Next, CCNY will travel to take on Drew University on Wednesday, April 19.
