Schenectady, NY - The City College of New York baseball team earned its first victory of the season on Sunday, splitting a doubleheader against Union College on the road. The Beavers lost game one, 6-2, but bounced back in the nightcap with a 4-3 victory.
Game One | Union 6, CCNY 2
In the opener, Union opened the game with a pair of runs in the first inning and tacked on three more runs in the second frame to hold a 5-0 lead.
The Beavers earned their first run in the top of the third on junior
Bryan Lopez's RBI ground out that drove in sophomore
Rich Cirigliano. In the fifth, Cirigliano scored the next run for CCNY, reaching home on a fielding error.
Game Two | CCNY 4, Union 3
In game two, the Beavers struck first in the top of the third frame. With runners on first and second, Lopez sent an RBI single to left centerfield, driving in Cirigliano.
Union ended the game in the fourth inning with Kyle Zaslaw's solo home run to left field.
The Beavers answered back swiftly in the top of the fifth inning, tallying three runs. Following Cirigliano's leadoff walk and Outfielder
Tyler DiBlasi's base-hit bunt, Lopez earned his RBI of the afternoon, driving home Cirigliano for his fourth run of the day.

Erik Rank earned the win for the Beavers, tossing seven complete innings with two strikeouts.
DiBlasi led the Beavers, going 2-for-3 in the game, with a walk and one run scored.

Stephen Suprun, Lopez, and Cirigliano each tallied a hit in the contest.
Next, the Beavers will travel to take on Yeshiva University on Wednesday, March 13.
