New Rochelle, NY - The City College of New York baseball team secured a two-game sweep of Lehman College in a CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader on Senior Day. With the sweep, the Beavers improve 9-17 overall and 6-2 in CUNYAC play.
Before the start of game one, the CCNY Baseball program honored the program's graduating senior class of 2024: Eric Romero, Austin Ortiz, Micheal Kessler, and Tyler DiBlasi.
Game One - CCNY 16, Lehamn 3
In the opener, senior Tyler DiBlasi powered the Beaver's offense, going a perfect 5-for-5 while stacking up RBI and four runs. Freshman Jake Brenner went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Sophomore Mike Savino finished 3-for-3, tallying an RBI and a walk. Junior Micahel Chasnov garnered two hits, three RBI, and one run.
On the mound, junior Brandon Paider earned the win, improving to 4-5 on the season. He recorded a season-high nine strikeouts, allowing three runs on six hits. Senior Austin Ortiz closed out the game in the seventh inning, striking out one.
Game Two - CCNY 15, Lehamn 2
In the closer, Brenner led CCNY, going a flawless 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in a pair of runs while scoring a pair of his own. Sophomore Rich Cirigliano went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Chasnov boosted five RBI, along with three hits and one run. Junior Bryan Lopez tallied two hits and two RBI and scored a duo of runs in the wins.
Sophomore Erik Rank earned the win, improving to 5-2 on the mound. He struck out three, allowing only two runs. Senior Michael Kessler closed the game, producing three outs.
Next, the Beavers take on Penn State Abington on Tuesday, April 23 on the road at 3:30 p.m.
