Beavers Sweep John Jay on the Road

Madison, NJ - The City College of New York Baseball team earned a pair of victories on Sunday, sweeping John Jay on the road in CUNY Athletic Conference play. 

With the win, the Beavers improved to 11-19 in the year, 8-2 in league play.

Game One - CCNY 11, John Jay 6
After trailing one run, junior Bryan Lopez got the Beavers on the board in the third inning, reaching home on sophomore Kevin Budzinski's RBI triple to left center. 

In the fifith, CCNY broke thoudth with five runs . Senior Tyler DiBlasi drove in the first run of the frame with an RBI single up the middle. Sophomore Rich Cirgilano knocked in the next two runs on a two-RBI single, lifting the Beavers to a 4-1 lead. Junior Michael Chasanov posted the next run on an RBI flyball, and freshman Colin Souther added in the final run of the inning with an RBI single up the middle, 6-1.

In the sixth inning, the Beavers added five more runs on three hits. Souther batted in the Beavers's seventh run on an RBI base hit. Junior Stephen Suprun extended CCNY's lead with an RBI single to right field, 8-1. With bases loaded, freshman Jake Brenner reeled in the three runs with three RBI double to right center, 11-1.

On the mound, junior Brandon Paider earned the win, throwing a complete game, to improve to 5-5 on the season. 

Game Two - CCNY 8, John Jay 7
Sophomore Erik Rank earned the win, improving to a conference-best 6-2 on the season. Junior Jack Daly closed out the game in the final innings, recording two strikeouts in the win for his first career save.

Bryan Lopez went 2-for-2 in game two, with an RBI and a run. Diblasi finished 2-for-4, scoring one run. Budzinski drove in three runs, along with a hit and two runs. Brenner tallied two hits, two RBI, and a run scored. Chasanov picked up two hits, an RBI, and a run.

Next, the Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Drew University on the road, 3:30 p.m.
