New York, NY – The City College of New York baseball team will compete for a third-straight CUNY Athletic Conference Championship this weekend. The Beavers will take on John Jay College in a best-of-three series that begins on Saturday, May 11, at Maimonides Park in Brooklyn, NY.
The defending champions, CCNY, led by Head Coach Steve Macias, look to capture their second straight league title.

Looking at the Beavers
- The CCNY Beavers clinched their second-straight CUNYAC Regular-Season title and the top seed in the Tournament, entering Saturday's match with a 14-19 overall record.
- For the third consecutive season, the Beavers advanced to the championship game series, defeating Lehman in the First Round on Tuesday, 11-6. Senior outfielder Tyler DiBlasi led the Beavers's offense, going 3-for-4 in the game with two RBI and two runs in the victory.
- The Beavers have boosted a high-powered offense this season, led by sophomore outfielder Rich Cirigliano, who leads CCNY in batting average (.398), hits (39), RBI (30), and runs scored (31). Junior shortstop Bryan Lopez has tallied 37 hits, 27 runs, and 21 RBI, while junior first baseman Michael Chasanov recorded 30 RBI, 32 hits, and 13 runs. Senior outfielder Tyler DiBlasi has stacked up 32 hits, 16 RBI, and 27 runs.
- On the mound, junior Brandon Paider and sophomore Erik Rank have been the aces for the Beavers this season. Paider is 7-5 on the mound this season and has the conference's third-best ERA (5.01) and 48 strikeouts across 73.2 innings of work. Rank owns a 6-2 record on the rubber, tallying 32 strikeouts in 50.0 innings.
Scouting the Bloodhounds
- On Tuesday, the third-seeded John Jay Bloodhounds (18-21) advanced to the Championship with an upset win over No. 2 Baruch in their First Round matchup.
- John Jay earned the No. 3 seed after finishing 7-5 against CUNYAC opponents during the regular season. Freshman Jaxen Gangwish has led Bloodhounds this season with a batting average of .377, 46 hits, 31 runs, and 20 RBI.
- In Tuesday's win over Baruch, the Bloodhounds strang together a 10-run comeback to upset the Bearcats, 14-12, clinching their first appearance in the championship series for the first time since 2018.
