New York, NY – For the second straight season, The City College of New York baseball program has clinched the top seed in the 2024 CUNY Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Tournament bracket.

The Beavers will begin postseason action on Tuesday, May 7, facing off against the fourth-seeded Lehman College in a First Round Play-In game at Purchase College in Purchase, NY. The winner of Tuesday's contest advances to the conference Championship best-of-three series at Maimonides Park in Brooklyn, NY. Games one and two of the series will take place on Saturday, May 11, while game three (*If Necessary) will be on Sunday, May 12.

The defending CUNYAC Champions, the Beavers earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament, securing the regular-season title for the second straight season. During the regular season, the Beavers went 13-19 overall and 10-2 against conference opponents.

The Beavers have boosted a high-powered offense this season, led by sophomore Rich Cirigliano, who leads CCNY in batting average (.394), hits (37), RBI (28), and runs scored (28). Junior Bryan Lopez has tallied 35 hits, 26 runs, and 21 hits, while junior Michael Chasanov recorded 28 RBI, 30 hits, and 12 runs. Sophomore second basemen Kevin Budzinski has averaged a .385 batting average this season, collecting 30 hits, 18 RBI, and 25 runs.

The Beavers pitching staff has registered the conference's second-best ERA this season (7.57). Junior right-handed ace Brandon Paider leads CCNY, going 6-5 on the mound this season with a 5.11 ERA and 41 strikeouts across 68.2 innings of work. Sophomore Erik Rank has produced a 6.89 ERA, boosting a 6-2 record, while tallying 30 strikeouts in 47 innings.
