CCNY Women’s Volleyball Competes in Road Tri-Match at Drew

Madison, NJ -  The CCNY women's volleyball team hit the road on Saturday to compete in a tri-match hosted by Drew University, facing Lycoming College and the host Rangers in non-conference action. The Beavers battled hard in both contests but ultimately fell in straight sets, moving to 3–12 overall.

Match 1: Lycoming 3, CCNY 0
CCNY opened the day against Lycoming, showing competitive stretches but unable to overcome the Warriors' steady attack and balanced defense.

Graduate student Gia Skenderi led the offense with seven kills, one solo block, and 7.5 total points. Sophomore Ivanna Zamora Sanchez turned in a strong all-around performance, finishing with six kills, 11 assists, five digs, and 7.5 points. Freshman Jia Hua Liu was highly efficient at the net, hitting .600 with three kills and adding two service aces.

Freshman Danuzia Caixeta Palmer guided the offense with 11 assists, while sophomores Rachael Reyes and Kejsi Metko contributed both at the net and defensively.

Match 2: Drew 3, CCNY 0
In the tri-match finale against host Drew, CCNY delivered one of its strongest offensive performances of the season, recording 29 kills and hitting .106 as a team. Despite the strong effort, the Beavers ultimately fell in three sets.

Skenderi led the way with a standout performance, tallying 10 kills, hitting .280, and adding a service ace and six digs for a team-high 11.0 points.

Zamora Sanchez continued to set the tone, recording four kills, 13 assists, eight digs, and 7.0 points. Reyes and Metko combined for 10 kills, while Liu added three kills, hit .222, and served an ace. Palmer contributed 10 assists and four digs to round out the attack.

The Beavers will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, hosting Medgar Evers College at the Nat Holman Gymnasium at 7:00 pm.
