New York, NY – The City College of New York Department of Athletics has been accepted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, establishing the New York City Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma (XAΣ). This prestigious society recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically, while demonstrating integrity, sportsmanship, and a commitment to personal growth.
Founded in 1996 by former DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis, Chi Alpha Sigma honors outstanding student-athletes who exemplify excellence in the classroom and in competition. The organization provides an enduring network for high-achieving student-athletes and celebrates their dual success in education and sport.
To qualify for induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, student-athletes must:
- Hold junior or senior academic standing at their institution,
- Have completed at least four full-time semesters or six quarters of college coursework, and
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
CCNY Athletics will recognize its inaugural class of Chi Alpha Sigma inductees later this academic year, celebrating the Beavers' dedication to academic and athletic excellence.
